Even as shipping experts warn of intensifying delays and shortages, Italy, one of the world’s largest tomato producers, is warning that crops may rot in fields due to a shortage of cans.
This is an excellent example of how fragile our food production is and just as “just in time” as the rest of our supply chain, and it is a harbinger of food shortages very soon due to these successive failures.
We must prepare for this constant and worsening disruption to our lifestyle: start growing food and spreading the word now.
