The The Brewers Association, A not-for-profit commercial organization that represents more than 5,400 breweries in the United States, and based its list on beer sales volume. Small means an annual production of less than 6 million barrels of beer and that means that no more than 25 percent of the brewer is owned or controlled by a member of the alcoholic beverage industry. This means no Anheuser-Busch behind the scenes, pulling the strings.
