Targeted Running Shorts – Review and Recommendations

Target’s Power Waist 10.5 Shorts review. These running shorts are very affordable so I thought I’d give them a “running test” to share my thoughts. I have just started training for my 31st marathon, so I consider myself an expert in running gear. I’ll be sharing some must-haves below too!

Best Running Shorts

Tips for finding the best running shorts for your body. Use this list, running goals, body size / shape, and clothing preferences to help you find the best running equipment for you.

Style / Cut Every body is different. Make sure the running shorts fit your body.

Things to consider – style, waistline, height, how it fits you (if you aren’t comfortable – you won’t be able to do your best) and any other factors that can help you feel comfortable and confident.

Example: If you have a short torso, you may not want high-waisted jogging shorts that go up to your sports bra.

Additional advice: Ask yourself – what do I do with these shorts?

Example: If you’ve been training for a half-marathon and also wear a hydration belt – you might not need a lot of pocket-sized shorts.

cloth This includes material, thickness, and color / design

Choose running shorts that are made of a fabric that wicks away sweat to help wick sweat away from your body. This helps keep you cool and can help avoid friction because the fabric dries quickly. I also appreciate when the fabric is SPF 50 too.

Bonus tip: choose colors and designs that mask sweat or urine stains if that makes you self-aware. Although – I expect runners to sweat! So I don’t think that’s a deal breaker for great gear.

Seam length – This is the key to avoiding anger.

If you struggle with rubbing your thighs together (also known as rubbing chub), make sure they are long enough to cover your legs past any point where they might rub together. Aim for running shorts that range from 7 to 9 inches.
