1. Buy yourself a set of kitchen scales

It will be the best investment you buy yourself. Not only will it restrict your calorie intake, but it will also prevent you from misjudging your food with those hungry eyes that we all seem to have when it comes to portion control.

2. Drink water!

3. Use a smaller plate

How often have you stacked your plate and thought it was a good portion? I’m sure I’m not the only one who overrated the food on their plate when serving. It is a very good tool especially when you go away from dispensing with kitchen scales …… and it will help you to have more control over this urge to fill the plate.

4. Eat slowly – chew your food

Did you know that it takes at least 20 minutes for your brain to fully register this?

5. Remove temptation

I know seduction is a crafty little demon that loves to derail you. So the best thing is to stop it in its tracks. Don’t buy fast food!

6. Read your posters!

Watch out for those hidden sugars, salt, and all that bad stuff.

7. Keep it simple – reduce stress

If you get too overwhelmed, you will likely give up or collapse. Do whatever it takes to make life easier for you.

Some people like to prepare meals in large quantities, which I find overwhelming. Alternatively, you can just cook a few of your meals and store them in the freezer for those “time-free” nights. If you do this over a period of time, you will have a small amount of ready meals.

8. Motivation / motivational incentives

It’s as simple as taking a photo of yourself at a smaller time in your life where you are the happiest. Stick it somewhere you can see it every day, such as a refrigerator or bathroom mirror.

Another idea is to buy a dress or pants in a very small size. Your goal is to enter this heading. Once you reach this goal, choose another goal to keep achieving. This will lead you to the next, then the next, etc.

this is important. Find a good support group around you! People who inspire you, people who cheer for you, people who support you know what’s important. I am so grateful to have found the healthy mummy. The community group led me to my place. They supported and encouraged me every step of the way. I am forever grateful.

Calorie counting is helpful but don’t make it a diet plan. Eating everything in moderation is the key! If you stick to dieting, restricting foods and narrowing your food options, you are only setting yourself up for failure. The key is moderation.

14. Calories in the rejecting verses

The energy in (the food you consume) minus the energy out (the exercise you do to burn calories) is all about it. If you like the gym, your body needs extra fuel and can easily manage a high calorie range. Movement is crucial! It doesn’t matter how you move, just move.

The best place to start is to go for a simple walk and build from there. Along the way, you’ll know when to change gears and incorporate more into your routine.
