Julie Buxton celebrated one year with The Healthy Mummy’s 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge!
The 60-year-old girl from NSW reveals that she lost more than 12 kg and now feels less bloated and is healthier than ever!
In fact, she was able to reach her target weight and control her health issues.
Jolie celebrates one year of her 28-day weight loss challenge
At this time last year, Julie Buxton was in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic and was feeling so miserable within herself.
“Menopause was raging in my body. My weight had risen to 70 kilograms and I had terrible rheumatoid arthritis, which is the worst I’ve been through in a few years,” Says.
“My rheumatoid arthritis specialist and prednisone just brought me back that day and I cried when he told me I would be on them for life.
“I knew I needed to make some changes because I had been on a roller coaster ride to gain weight and lose weight and gain weight for over 10 years. I was a 59 year old woman and I felt very old and invisible and wanted to be so much more than that.” .
Jolie set a goal for herself
The six-year-old was determined to be fit and healthy by her 60th birthday in December, when she discovered the healthy mummy.
“I wanted to wear a beautiful dress to my party and look great at my son’s wedding, so I scored some goals,” Says.
“I struggled on some days, it wasn’t always easy, it was hard work. I loved all the food in the challenge and started walking and exercising when I could.”
Amazingly, Jolie managed to lose 12 kg and 78 cm and has maintained it ever since.
“I was wearing a 16s / 14s or L now I’m wearing a 12s / 10s / 8s or an S and the bra size has changed from 18 degrees Celsius to 12 degrees Celsius,” Says.
“I still have some arthritis pain most days while I’m on biologics, but the blood tests for infections are all good right now. My cholesterol is lower and my blood pressure is normal.”
Best of all, Julie feels fit and cool – and looks like it.
“I now love to be able to wear all the clothes I was packing away when I lost weight before, and I love to wear the new pretty things I bought for special occasions like my 60th birthday party and my sons’ wedding,” Says.
What Julie eats every day
“I love the juices I have every day, and I absolutely love the excellent espresso because you don’t need to add anything to it,” Says.
“I love Tami’s vanilla smoothies because you can make any flavor combination with it, and I love double chocolate and very salted caramel.”
Julie is also a big fan of meal prep.
“My husband and I are only at home, but I find it great to prepare meals in the fridge if I don’t feel like cooking and I always make more than I need so I have leftovers,” Says.
A typical day on a plate:
breakfast: Juice every day.
Morning snack: Simple things like wheat chips, cornflakes, rice cakes with tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese, or dips like hummus with vegetable sticks.
lunch: Something simple, either another smoothie, cornflakes, rice cakes, rolled with tuna, salad, or something similar, or soup from application in the winter.
Afternoon Snack: Recipe from App Challenge such as Banana Bread, Popcorn, Bliss Ball Recipe, or Fruit Slice with Peanut Butter.
dinner: Always a healthy meal from the Mummy Challenge app.
Evening snack: something with chocolate or a dessert recipe from the app.
“I love recipes for juices, like stove lasagna, lasagna soup, zucchini and slice of bacon, chicken butter soup, chicken parmigiana, or Mexican lasagna,” Julie says.
“I’m also a fan of Caramel Cheesecake Bliss, Choc Chip Banana Bread.”
Julie’s most important advice
1. Meal plan and preparation every week If you can, your structured and nutritious meals and snacks are ready to eat and track calories every day.
2. Move your body every day. Go for a walk or do some stretches, as something is better than nothing.
3. Do not restrict yourself. It’s a lifestyle change so it’s okay to get a special treat, go out to a coffee shop or a party, and even have a few drinks, but incorporate it into the calories of your daily meal plan if you can.
“I absolutely love everything about The Healthy Mummy. The app is the first thing I look at in the morning to see what I’m getting in the day and the last thing I look at before I sleep at night until the end is recording my steps. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
