Hard tea gets a healthy refresh

If you drink Tea-It’s easy to skip Sugar. But if you drink alcohol Solid teaSugar is not my choice. It is the attraction rooted in nostalgia and the American association Sweet tooth. Popular brands like Twisted Tea have developed a sugary bar with more or less specific solid tea over the past two decades. But now, beverage companies are moving beyond the sugar cube to produce more tough, health-conscious teas.

“We’ve seen a hole in the sugar-free iced tea market,” says Julius Makarewicz, Founder and CEO of Nude Beverages, which launched its hard tea in Canada in the spring of 2019. To meet customer needs, his company launched “cleaner”, low-calorie alternatives. It’s a long-standing trend in the tea world, with Snapple now sold near unsweetened Pure Leaf tea.

“This group did not grow to the size it is now overnight,” Makarevic says. “It took time for people to warm up according to the taste of a product that contained no sugar, sweeteners or artificial flavors. Now that there was a real shift, I think the timing of solid sugar-free tea has never been better.”

The new batch of tough teas relies heavily on real plants and fruits, with many hovering around the 100 calorie mark – if not less. what are you waiting for? Time to have tea on these four great performances.
