In this podcast, I talk to Austin Current all about the science of strength training.
Austin recently released a book called The science of strength training, a visual encyclopedia and comprehensive resource that dives into the nitty-gritty of resistance training. Specifically, it covers physiology, anatomy, how muscles work, exercise selection, and much more.
Austin’s book will help anyone understand what happens in our bodies as a result of strength training and why it is so beneficial. And the book is visually captivating to boot!
In our conversation, we talk about the main drivers of muscle growth (including mechanical stress, muscle damage, and metabolic stress), sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar hypertrophy, exercise programming, the importance of loading, and cardiovascular fitness. We’re just scratching the surface of what’s inside Austin’s book.
If you’re unfamiliar with Austin, he’s not only a teacher and author, but a coach and co-founder of Physique Development, a training group that works with people who do daily fitness and competitors alike.
Not only did Austin have a successful competitive career as a natural bodybuilder, but I was impressed with his ability to break down complex topics into actionable information that anyone can use, which is why I wanted to share him on my podcast.
So, if you want to learn more about the physiology of muscle growth and how we can use science to modify exercise programming, check out this interview!
Finally, if you want to support the show, please leave a quick review for it on iTunes. It really helps!

Clinically effective doses
Great ingredients aren’t enough to make a great product – you also need the right doses.
That’s why we use the exact doses of each ingredient that has safely delivered the desired benefits in peer-reviewed studies.
Made in USA
Where dietary supplements are made is important, because rules and regulations regarding quality and purity vary from country to country.
And if you want to make sure that the supplements you swallow every day are safe and effective, you want products produced in the United States.
That’s why all of our supplements are made in America in NSF certified and FDA inspected facilities that operate under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations.
We pay a premium to work with the best manufacturers in the country, but it’s the only way we can also produce the best natural sports supplements.
Did you know that studies have shown that many supplements contain high levels of toxins such as lead, arsenic, and cadmium?
Not in our interest.
Every ingredient in every supplement we produce is tested for heavy metals, microbes, allergens, and other contaminants to ensure they meet the strict purity standards set by the Food and Drug Administration.
Flavored and naturally sweetened
While artificial sweeteners may not be as dangerous as some people claim, studies show that regular consumption of these chemicals may actually be harmful to our health and that more research is needed.
That’s why all of our supplements are naturally sweetened and flavored and contain no artificial food dyes, fillers, or other unnecessary junk.
Science-backed ingredients and dosages
Unlike some supplement companies, we don’t sell questionable formulas with white labels or ready-to-use labels.
Instead, our customized and unique formulations are the result of extensive reviews of the scientific literature to discover the most effective ingredients for each.
