“Mango is a sweet, yet surprisingly versatile fruit,” he says. How do you cut a mango?

Whether you’re preparing any of these mango recipes or enjoying the fruit on its own, here’s the perfect mango slicer.

  • Lay the mango on its side so that the smallest end is on the cutting board.
  • From this angle, you can imagine the long, flat pit in the middle of the mango.
  • Cut from the top of the mango straight down along one side of the hole.
  • Repeat with the other side.
  • Cut the core of the piece with the hole if you want more.
  • On each mango half, slice the flesh in straight lines crosswise. (You are trying to cut through the flesh of the fruit but not the skin underneath.)
  • Flip the mango half over by pressing the mango peel in the middle of this section.
  • Cut or peel the steak away from the mango peel.
